broken, dislocated, and vibrant

This is the ninth of 21 posts serving as a devotional and prayer guide building up to the launch of creativecommunity.tv on Saturday November 6th.

No matter how hard we try, it’s almost impossible to restore something that’s been broken to its original condition. It doesn’t matter how much glue, duct tape, or paint we apply, at close inspection the object still shows signs of being shattered.

Just as bad, most things that we own lose value over time. That new iphone that you just bought, even with its protective screen and hard-shell case, will get bumped and dropped and never look as good as the day you bought it.

Many of us have to look to our past to remember our greatest experiences with God. Our present-day relationship feels more dislocated and broken than our initial experience with Him. Life, pain, regret, and sin seem to replace our passion, zeal, and hunger.

But here’s how God views our broken lives, ““…all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies all because of his death.” - Colossians 1:18

What a better way! Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we are properly restored and our brokenness can become a vibrant harmony demonstrating His goodness. That’s our message to the unchurched community in Westport: that He wants to bring restoration and bring people of all backgrounds and experiences together to proclaim His name.

His will is that we would grow into a deeper relationship with Him and trade our weakness for His strength.
